Why do we have color preferences?

Clothes shopping, car shopping, a good pair of shoes, what to wear today, everyday we are surrounded by choice of color.

Now, I'm not gonna go into the science of why we see certain colors or the difference between color in light and color in objects and how it all works when we see color. Basically the light of the color is bouncing off our eyes and then we see that color. There's an episode about color on the Magic School Bus show and I'm pretty sure you can watch it on YouTube. Never mind you're not a kid if you're not. It's such a good explanation of how it all works.

Back to choice of color.

Why do we choose certain colors? Why do we like certain colors? Why do we have color preferences?

This gets into the psychology of colors. Why do I like blue? Why does my friend like black? Why do some people find certain colors appealing and others don't?

I often think when I choose a color for clothes or for items like a computer mouse, why do I always look for blue? I like blue but why do I like blue?

What If...I was WRONG? (Debunking My Theories and Thoughts)

Exactly a month has passed since my last post...but of course, if you're new you won't know that. Well, now you do :P

I'd like to address some theories and philosophical thoughts of mine I had years back.

Here are the stuffs I claimed:

1. John Titor is a real person AND a real time traveler.


2. The idea that something = nothing.


3. I'm a realist.


4. Wanting and Needing are two separate things. You can want something but you may not need it.


5. Galligator: Her Royal Randomness is NOT N. J. Folettia.

The last one is probably a conspiracy theory about myself that I created for myself or rather, I tried to.

Let's address that first and get it out of the way, shall we? :)

Rejecting Obligation: Natural Human Instinct?

If you "have to" clean your room, you automatically feel like you don't want to or you rather not.

If you "have to" do homework, you feel you really don't want to.

Or, if you "need to" get a job, you might feel you don't want to and make up excuses like "I'm not ready."

These "have to"s and "need to"s are obligation words like "must" or "should".

When we are told that we have to do something, do we not all instantly reject it?

What if...an Extrovert, Ambivert, and Introvert were locked in a room?

My imagination (or theory if you want to be professional) of what would happen (p.s. I'm an ambivert).

The extrovert will take it upon themselves, as extroverts always do, to try to be the leader to get us out.
But, they won't come up with any really good ideas. Just a bunch of sporadic ideas flinging out like a softball batting machine.
I'm not saying they ALL are like this but I feel most extroverts aren't very observant. It's not a bad thing. They just aren't.

Philosophical Musings: What we see is not what we see.

When I'm academically tired, I tend to become a philosopher *says "philosopher" with a high-class British accent*

I started wondering about reality.

I call myself a realist so why not think about it more?

When you look at pretty purple flowers (because that's when my thoughts came) are you really looking at purple flowers?

I have heard that each person may see colors differently. My purple might not be the same as your purple.

But then, it got me thinking. What if all that we see wasn't actually what it was?

We are all limited to one perception, our own. We can only see through our own eyes and, based on our understanding of the world up until this point in time, only understand things based on what we already know from past experiences. If we see something that we have never seen before, we still understand it to some degree because we connect it to things we already know.

So. What I'm asking here is, what if all the things we thought we knew, weren't actually true? What if everything was not as it seems? (Swan Princess reference).

For example,

First, here is the question I'm going to ask me and me will answer it. Me like mind-bending questions (Cookie Monster reference).

Is there actually a way to travel to the future before it gets ahead of us again? Can we step foot into the future?

Despite the fact that we are always told that we all have a future to look forward to, we never seem to get to it.

The only way to get to it is to have a Time Machine like John Titor and go see yourself.

But what if, through some strange fate of time (whatever that is :/ ), we could actually step foot into the future before we lose it again?

Theory: Thumbelina and the Important Kisses (She was born a fairy)

In this post, I'm taking issue with Thumbelina FILM VERSION, the story of a girl the size of a thumb, born out of a flower in the house of an elderly woman who always wanted a child.

Most of you might know the film version where one day this little Thumbelina meets the Fairy Prince and falls in love and then after many adventures and near-death experiences, she gets married to the Fairy Prince Cornelius and kisses him for the first time and then gets her fairy wings.

I believe that Thumbelina was born a fairy and not just some random tiny person. If the magical seed was planted in the right place and Thumbelina was born in the right family, she would've had her wings earlier on.

And the main ingredient for this is a kiss out of love.

First, how is she born?

Theory: Anna and Elsa really ARE sisters. Some people say "no".

I have heard theories that Anna and Elsa are not sisters because of their hair color and that Elsa is actually the fraternal twin of Rapunzel????

22 "Beauty and the Beast" Questions: What do you think?

Here are some questions about Beauty and the Beast. Some of them I had for a long time, some of them recently since I started practicing singing Disney songs and paid more attention to the lyrics.

1. Where is Belle's mother?

2. In the opening song, Belle sings "Little town, it's a quiet village, everyday like the one before. Little town with the little people waking up to say..." Sometimes when we say "little" we mean it in a "oh how cute" kind of way. But other times we mean it in a "oh, how little! itty bitty hahaha!" kind of condescending way. Which is it?

3. If Belle really grew up in that little town, why does everyone look at her like she is weird? Surely they would've gotten used to her by now. Why is Gaston thinking he would marry her? He knows she's weird and she is sort of an outcast so why should he care? And why now? Why not before? If she truly grew up there, why didn't he make a move on her before?

4. Could it be that Belle is actually from a different town? Because everyone STILL thinks she is weird after ALL THESE YEARS.

5. "Every morning just the same. This is the morning that we came, to this poor provincial town..." This sentence in the opening song, doesn't this show that she is actually from elsewhere???

6. Also she says "There must be more than this provincial life!" This can mean two things: She wants different because she reads books unlike other girls. OR She came from elsewhere so she knows there is more and wants it. She even says it again after Gaston makes a move on her. She's singing again and she says "I want much more than this provincial life!" On top of that, she wants to meet someone out in the wide open somewhere who understands her desire for more.

The Santa Claus and North Pole Theory Part 2

Good grief. So I wrote Part 1 last year in April (of all seasons) and here's the link. Go read it. Now. Refresh your memory. I've had to brief through it to refresh my own memory.

Basically I used two stories "The Story of Santa Claus" and "Santa Claus is Comin' to Town" to try to figure out where Santa Claus or Saint Nicholas Claus came from.

My theory was that: from the first story, Nicholas Claus is found out to have been living in an orphanage on a small island. Later he leaves the island, supposedly finds a family to live with, and gets married. He had often found joy in making toys for the younger children so he goes into the toy business with his wife. Out of love for children and since the couple can't have children of their own, he often gives away his toys to the poor children even though the toy shop is in debt. His wife calls him a Saint, therefore, Santa becomes his nickname from her.

So, Nicholas "Santa" Claus.

Now, with the second story I theorized that Nicholas Claus was indeed abandoned by his biological mother because she could not care for him. Perhaps she was too poor. She thought the ruler of the lands, a rich guy, could care for her baby. It can also be guessed that she thought highly of this ruler and even trusted him. But the ruler does not want to care for the child so he tells his right-hand man to bring the baby to an orphan asylum. In the story the sled is blown away but I think in reality it was successfully taken to the orphan asylum. There the baby just named Claus was given the name Nicholas by the headmaster of the orphanage. She takes him in and shows him the joy of life. But eventually the asylum shuts down because it is old or perhaps the ruler does not want it there any more.

Nicholas Claus is sent from orphanage to orphanage until he makes it to the one on the island. Now he is much older and he finds joy in teaching the younger kids how to carve tops out of wood which he probably learned somewhere along the way.

Okay, that was the Santa Claus Theory. Now the North Pole Theory.

About John Titor again. Is Time Traveling Possible?

November 2012 John Titor: A Real Time Traveler???

So, this is a link to an old post THAT YOU SHOULD READ. I sometimes re-read my posts and I kinda had something to say about this one.

To think that time traveling might be real, we must think about one thing: Does the future exist?

Of course we know that tomorrow is coming or any near future is coming but does it exist before us in advance? Is the future, where time travelers like John Titor come from, the same future? If tomorrow doesn't exist until we get to it, surely 2036 won't exist until we get to it, right?

So that means that when a time traveler travels into the past, he couldn't have come from the exact same timeline. Maybe there are several different timelines where the same exact things happen. Like copies. And when you travel back in time in one of them, you travel to another timeline???? I'm getting so confuzzled.

But this is on the line that we believe time traveling exists. Does it and can it exist? Should it exist?

Another question, how can you give a prediction of natural disasters like earthquakes or exact estimates of the number of deaths in a war when the event that will happen is years later? Maybe you CAN, with a little practice, predict tomorrow or the next day but surely not three or four or more years later, right?

And again, is John Titor real? If he is, he'll be 17 today so someone in Florida needs to go and look him up. Not talk to him or anything. Just to make sure he exists.

The Something = Nothing Theory (SuperCarlinBrothers video link linked!)

So, Nothing. What is nothing? Well, it is definitely something that I have often thought about and thought I was the only one to think so deeply but then...

Someone else has thought about it and posed a new theory that I didn't have! :) yay face

His theory was that, nothing is an area sort of, where it's just clear. And Clear is like a new color. It can't be something that we can imagine. Hmmm...deep...

Here's my theory and I even wrote a poem on this if I can find it...um...later.

So, imagine a box. It is empty. You are asked to say what is in it. You look inside. You will probably say,

"There's nothing in here!"

And yes, there IS nothing in there. Well, nothing that you can see, that is.

But think about it, there could be these minute pieces of dust that we can't see with the naked eye. And, not to mention air that is all around us otherwise we'd probably suffocate by just looking inside the box to see if there is anything in there. It's like outerspace where...we can't breath.

But
it isn't.

So, if we look with our naked eye and see nothing. It is just Nothing By Our Naked Eye.

Then imagine you were asked to look inside the box using a microscope. I had this...miniature microscope thing my grandmother's brother (who I just called "uncle" because he's my mother's uncle) gave me. It can zoom in on fabric and stuff until you see the threads twining together and stuff. It's pretty cool for an only child who doesn't have playmates in her house when both her parents are busy with work and household stuff.

Anyway. When you look at the box, you'd see a close up of the stuff it's made out of. Is that nothing? No. It is something. Ha! There, I proved to you that there is indeed something in that empty box.

Okay, here's where it gets tricky.

The Santa Claus and North Pole Theory: Part 1

This is something that I've been thinking about for a long time ever since I found out Santa wasn't real.

Let me tell you how it happened for me.

When I was in my second year of junior high, I decided that I was getting too old to write letters to Santa and ask for things.  So, I told my mother, well, actually I wrote a letter to Santa telling him I was getting too old for him and then my mother came over and told me that Santa isn't real.

In my third year of junior high, my tutor, about 8, 9 years older than me, that came to my house told me she believed in Santa Claus.  She said, "Definitely.  He's definitely out there somewhere and I will not stop believing."

So the reasoning I came to of who on earth the jolly old man was, is that he does come around at night on his sleigh visiting households with children.  He doesn't leave presents.  That's what the parents do.  But what he does do is make sure every child is happy and safe and sound and is sleeping tight.  The reason I say this is because "Santa" apparently means "Saint".  It would make sense for a Saint Claus who loves children and who is kind of a guardian angel for them to visit them on that one special night.

I think if we think of him as a saint, in Christian beliefs and other religions, it would make sense his visits might coincide with Jesus Christ's birthday.  I heard there is even specualtion on there being a fourth king that followed the star of Bethlehem but stopped to help a homeless person or something like that...  And then I don't know if he died or what but somehow he was dubbed a Saint by the angels of god...  He could be the Saint Claus...  He could.  I mean it does fit.

Okay, first we'll tackle the question, WHO IS SANTA CLAUS?

John Titor: A Real Time Traveler???

By the title, most of you might feel skeptical about this post.  I still feel skeptical but some evidence might prove John Titor really is a person from the future.  Besides, how do we know whether people in the future discovered a way to time travel or not?

The first question comes to this: Who is John Titor?

First of all, he was just something I happened to stumble upon one day.

According to this link, John Titor appeared one day on the Internet sometime in the year 2000 then later in January 2001 saying he was a time traveler from the year 2036 who went to year 1975 to get some computer thing.  I mean, anyone could do that, right?  Hey, I could be say I'm from the year 3031.

Of course many people jumped on him and forced him to prove himself.  Here's the thing, he made darn good predictions.  Now is it possible to make predictions?  I don't know.  I'm not a scientist.

Okay.  Could you have done that?  Perhaps.  I mean it's just once so a wild guess or some inside information could help you with that, sure.

But that's not all.  From the same site:

"Also he talked about an earthquake in peru, and about a month later that actually happened. "I might even decide to tell you about an earthquake in Peru but then people that would have died by chance will now live and vice versa."

You might wonder why he said "people that would have died by chance will now live and vice versa".  Well, this shows that he believes that his telling of the earthquake might save the people who were going to die, thus, altering the future.

This is a bit of the chats between John Titor a.k.a Timetravel_0 and some other people.

It is strange that he got so many predictions right.  Except for the Olympics one.  He was almost right on that.  Considering that, it can be said that he is, indeed from the future.  I mean, someone who lived in the year 2000, which was his first appearance following his major appearence the following year, couldn't have known what would happen years later.  Because, it is impossible.

He makes predictions of 2003, 2008... I mean, I don't know what will come of the world next week!  I mean, you could, I guess make a wild guess but look at all the correct predictions!

After I researched on John Titor, I started to feel scared.  What if, he really really was from 2036?  It is scarely crazy, I tell you.  I mean, sure, it is possible at this rate of technology that someone might discover time traveling.

One thing I want to mention; John Titor is from 2036, anyway he claims that he is, and he was 38 at the time of his appearence.  So, when was he born if all this is correct?  1998.  So he was 2 years old when he visited the year 2000...  And 1998 is not too far off from now.  He will be... 14 as of 2012.  So there should be a John Titor lad somewhere in this world and Florida is one place he could be.  The reason is because he says he is a time traveler from Florida.

Hmm... is there a John Titor in Florida who doesn't know what he will do in 2036?  John is quite a common name that anyone can pull off but... look at these predictions.  I, normally, don't believe in such things as time traveling unless I see or experience it with my very own eyes and body.  However, the predictions play a part in saying whether or not John Titor is, indeed, from the future.  Kind of like how we know about the past like we learned in history class and then we time travel to the past and tell the people there.

Could it be that, we do discover time traveling in 2034 like John Titor says?  And once we get to the future, will a John Titor travel back in time and predict the same stuff?  And then will a John Titor in that time do the same thing again when he grows up?  Like a loop?

As for me, I am starting to believe that it may be possible to time travel.  If it is, I'm looking forward to 2034 to read news on discovery of time traveling and to 2036 to meet John Titor when he returns from the past.

How do we know he left?  Simple; he disappeared from the face of the Internet, never to be heard of again.

Presumably he went back home to 2036.  Skeptical people will say, "Oh, it's just a fake!"  But what about all the predictions?  How can someone who lives in year 2000 make accurate predictions of the future when basically we don't know what will happen next week?
