Is there actually a way to travel to the future before it gets ahead of us again? Can we step foot into the future?
Let's talk about that! :D (Good Mythical Morning reference).
Despite the fact that we are always told that we all have a future to look forward to, we never seem to get to it.
The only way to get to it is to have a Time Machine like John Titor and go see yourself.
Time Traveler Me: Hi, me. How are ya?
Future Me: GREAT SCOTT! A DOPPELGANGER! *passes out*
Let's think for a moment.
First, the basics. What is a "future"?
A future is that chunk of time that always seems to be ahead of us.
We think about the future. It is always changing depending on what we do in the present.
I have chosen, now, to write a blog post. This will affect the me tomorrow because,
1. I have gotten this out of my system.
2. I will do other things in tomorrow's free time.
3. Creating this post and sending it out to the world and receiving comments could have a tremendous affect on me tomorrow.
THE IMPORTANTAY POINT
The future is heavily affected by anything and everything that you do or that happens to you in the present.
Stepping into the future is impossible for these reasons:
--Even if you did nothing today because you want to reach an unaffected tomorrow (your future), it is impossible because the fact you DID NOTHING TODAY (present) will still affect tomorrow.
--You will have to be like a Time Traveler younger than everyone when you arrive in the future because they have all aged but you stayed the same.
Every single choice today affects your tomorrow self. And as far as we can tell, Time Traveling is impossible.
Oh darn :/
Looks like we have come to a wall and there is absolutely no way to get to the other side.
See ya later, alligators...WAIT, WAIT, don't go! I've found it! I've found the gold! :D
No, I don't have any of this gold. It was just a metaphor. You'll have to gold find it yourself. Get it? Go-ld find it? :P |
Crazy :0
Okay so let's put it simply now.
This is your goal: To get to a future where I am not affected by my choices of today (present).
So, essentially, any choices made in space stay in space so you KIND OF stepped into the future without affecting it when you return to your Earth self.
Confusing? Yes, it is. Even for me. But me like mind-bending absurd questions! (second Cookie Monster reference).
Imagine this:
You are an astronaut. You are leaving planet Earth to go to the Moon.
Before you leave Earth you treat yourself to a dose of Earth food. Fried chicken. Yum.
Now you are off. You spend years in space. You still like fried chicken. You are sad there are no KFC's on the Moon. There isn't even day and night. You are living in Moon Time now. Today just feels like an extension of yesterday and tomorrow doesn't feel like it has arrived. EVER. Nope. Because you have no time, no night and day, tomorrow feels like some alien thing out here.
You just have yesterday and you have today. Sometimes, you might go a little crazy.
When you come back to Earth, you return to Earth Time. You have day and night which gives you a tomorrow. You also have KFC. THANK GOODNESS!
But a strange feeling dawns on you. You remember what you learned in school. When you go out to the Moon, loop around it, and come back, you are actually younger than the people left on Earth.
Earth has aged while you were gone. It had a few cycles.
Essentially, you are seeing everyone's future.
You are also unaffected by any present choices you might have made on Earth because you weren't there to make them. That means you didn't change your Earth self. You can go and come back the same old you. If you did not change since you left Earth, you have, in a sense, traveled into the future unaffected.
Okay, so this means if you are the older twin, you have it good. You can come back younger than your twin AND boast that you are stepping in the shoes of your future Earth self.
Let's summarize our crazy findings.
Remember this thing I said, er wrote? I said that it is impossible to step into the future because,
every choice you make today will affect tomorrow. If tomorrow is affected, the future is always ahead of you.
BUT we have found the loop hole :D
If we can loop-dee-loop in outer space for a while and come back, we can not only come back younger than everyone else but also we can come back unaffected by Earthly stuffs.
We were not on Earth so we did not make Earthly decisions. Hence, we did not affect our Earthly self. Whatever happened on the Moon stays within the Moon timeline. BECAUSE we didn't make those decisions on Earth, our Earthly timeline is unaffected.
So, our Earthly self is unaffected.
I also said that,
you will have to be like a Time Traveler younger than everyone when you arrive in the future because they have all aged but you stayed the same.
But check this out! We are also younger than everyone else because the Earth went through a few cycles. Time Travelers are always younger than everyone else when they visit the future, right?
Like a Time Traveler, we have successfully arrived into the future unaffected by any choices and younger than everyone else.
Yeah, apparently you CAN travel to the future.
And the additional good news is, you don't need to wait for someone to build a Time Traveling Machine. You don't even have to search for John Titor and steal his Time Traveling Machine.
But who would wanna travel all the way to outer space just to prove that point?
Would you do it? :P
See ya later, alligators! :D
Would be fun to loop Dee loop and also come back younger...
