What if...Japan got rid of the Emperor?

Hey! I finally have time to blogger! :D

So, I'm going big again, what if Japan got rid of the Emperor? I am Japanese, well, partially and I live in Japan so don't bash me saying I know nothing about Japan. I probably know more than those who bash. So anyway, what if. Like say, what if the Japanese government said,

Gov: "Oh, btw, Emperor."

Emp: "Yeah?"

Gov: "You can stop being Emperor now, we got this."

Emp: "But..."

Gov: "No 'but's. I arranged some splendid accommodations for you in the suburbs. Go on and live a normal life, but don't worry, you'll be wealthy so you don't have to worry about the fact you probably never have worked hard in your entire life. It's okay, I understand."

Emp: "Oh...okay. See ya."

And then suddenly, Japan has no Emperor.

Maybe I went a little too far with the fact that the Emperor has never worked HARD in his ENTIRE LIFE. He's pretty old. He MUST HAVE at some point, right? RIGHT????

So in general, what would happen? Well, knowing Japanese media, it would be all over the news for probably about three, four weeks. Usually a bit of unusual news lasts about a week. But I'm guessing this will be pretty big. I mean, Japan has had an Emperor figure since the beginning of Japan and even before Japan called itself Japan.

Taking that away is like taking away your favorite stuffed animal that you have always had sitting on top of your dresser even before you existed. It's a kind of...influential existence, know what I mean? It being there and it not being there is a HUGE difference even though it didn't really have any real influence on your life.

Sound like someone you know? Yep, the Emperor to most Japanese people in the modern era.

I'm guessing it would be big for the young generation for about a week. But then, their lives were never really influenced by the existence of the Emperor so why fret? Go back on your phones and play games and text people and drink coffee and do young-people stuff.

But the older generation, like say, the forties, fifties, and sixties to mid-sixties, would probably talk about it a little longer. The Emperor never really influenced them but they know their PARENTS and GRANDPARENTS were. They might be caught up in that relative storm for a bit until they get tired of it and move on.

But the elderly generation, late sixties to the oldest person alive. These are the people that would wish the media kept talking about it forever.

Not to mention the military. Anyone who was in the Japanese military would feel angry at the government. They FOUGHT for the Emperor. It's this whole honor thing. Sacrifice yourself for the Emperor because it is HONORABLE. Some people study this, Japanese Ethics or something along those lines. It's pretty crazy, interesting, crazy, intriguing, weird, interesting, cult-like, maybe.

Idk what Japan military is like now. Well, not really military...but you know what I mean, right? Do they answer more to the government or the Emperor's decisions? Hmm...what would happen to them...I'm too lazy to look it up :P

But perhaps the biggest thing here is what the WORLD will think of Japan. What is Japan without an Emperor? Japan still has the government. Definitely the government will have to become more influential and more powerful, right?

If Japan had war with someone, would it make a difference if there was an Emperor and if there wasn't?

Three ways this could go if Japan got rid of the Emperor;

1. The government just takes power and then mostly everyone is basically happy as long as the government doesn't do anything too stupid.

2. The government takes power but most of the people want the Emperor back and there are large protests and unrest and all that bad stuff and then Japan starts having civil wars and people die and nothing is good.

3. The government takes power and most of the people want the Emperor back but there is no way that will happen so they just accept this new reality and everyone holds their breaths expecting the worst.

One way this could go really wrong if Japan got rid of the Emperor;

1. All the political parties start fighting each other trying to be the best. Like when in the Power Puff Girls Movie, Mojo jojo created an army of brain-enhanced monkeys and tried to be their ruler but then the brain-enhanced monkeys started to fight amongst each other for position as the ruler. So maybe if the current government tries to take power without the unseen influence of the Emperor, the other parties will become more aggressive.

Idk.

Anyway, this was just a crazy thought of mine that I wanted to share. No conclusion whatsoever :P

See ya later, alligators! :D
