Moving forward and other thoughts

These are some thoughts in some old notebook that I found. I don't completely remember when I wrote them but I do know they are some time after high school.

1. When one does not know whether to move forward or backward, they tend to not move at all. They may not see that there are other options left and right. There are options all around. All one needs to do is understand that they can veer off the path and still end up in the same destination.

Response: I'm not really sure what I was trying to say here... I guess the message is that you always have a myriad of choices wherever you go. And, you can choose to see those choices or not.

2. The world is a place of change. From the time of micro life to the time of us, the world has changed greatly. Some may ask why. However, the answer is in multitude. Could it be the climate or the weather? Could it just be some kind of destiny? Some may ask why we needed technology when it may, in fact, be ruining our lives. Why did we have to go from paper to typewriters to computers or from wooden houses and buildings to glass and metallic forests of the cities of today? There is only one answer I have found; we are curious creatures that need to satisfy our curiosity by building and inventing. Animals don't invent. They may be curious but not as much as we are. We are special. Because we are curious and we are inventors, we have changed the world. Is it good to change or is it bad to change? Well, let's just say it depends on the change, how we use it and / or enhance it, and how it affects our lives.

Response: First, I think the weather is part of the climate... This sounds like I've been thinking about my novel I'm writing... The continuous question in the novel is that "Is change good or bad?"

3. Sometimes when we're walking the bumpy path of our lives, we might come to walls. Sometimes these walls are low enough to climb over. But sometimes they are too high for us. How do we deal with these high walls? Maybe we can find a way to go around them. But what if they stretch left and right and on and on forever? Then maybe we can search for footholds in the walls. Or maybe someone is on the other side and they throw you a rope or make a hole in the wall so you can crawl through. But what if you're alone? In times like this maybe you'll wait for rescue. Maybe you'll stop and go no further. Or maybe you'll free yourself from all that's keeping you down and find superhuman strength and / or power to climb it on your own. Or maybe there is someone on the other side who will help you if you just ask. For any decision you make remember, you don't have to give up. You can choose to of course, but you don't have to.

Response: Okay...I kinda went off into a tangent about how to get over the wall but...it sorta makes sense...right?
