Frozen: Questionable Reality Check SPOILER ALERT!!!!

I know you guys are thinking
WHAT?! Not FROZEN again!

But I just can't get it out of my head! Not the song, I'm talking about the story itself. Sure, disney movies have always had questionable moments that adults asked out loud and kids just accepted. But c'mon, even a kid would realize the strange storyline of Frozen.

I'm calling this post "Reality Check" because I'm going to talk about certain moments in Frozen that I found myself questioning over and over again (basically the whole plot).

First, when Elsa accidently strikes her sister with her powers and her sister freezes up a bit and they have to do the old book with the ancient map thing and ride off in the night seeking these stone trolls who can cure Anna.

Elsa is then told her powers are wonderful and nice and pretty. Quite a good image to put in her head. I was kinda shocked when the troll decided to scare A LITTLE GIRL and tell her her powers could be evil and bad and tell her that fear is her biggest enemy and stuff. FEAR is her biggest enemy and he SCARES her. He should've told her how dangerous her powers are, THEN tell her they can be controlled and be all nice and wonderful. Some help HE was. Because of that Elsa's parents decide to shut her away from her sister and make her fear her powers. And thus, the white strand in Anna's hair is a constant reminder of how AWFUL and DANGEROUS her powers are.

I thought FEAR was her biggest enemy... oh well. Poor Elsa, without love and support, lives a life of a recluse while her sister Anna runs about the castle completely out of control with no supervision from her parents or even a governness and with no social life because she never goes out even though she can. I mean, it's not like the outside world is dangerous or anything. Not like what Mother Gothel tells Rapunzel in "Tangled". Then I would understand why Anna never goes outside.

I just realized she does go outside... FOR THE FUNERAL!!!! (that Elsa doesn't even bother to go to because she's a recluse and can't control her powers because the trolls made her FEAR them.) Then Anna decides to shut herself in the castle until her sister's coronation. Who's rulling the kingdom after Elsa and Anna's parents die?

FINALLY THE GATES OPEN!!!!

Okay, I know Anna did NOT go outside for almost as long as her sister didn't. Normally, a child cut out from the outside world, will have minimal socializing skills and be an introvert and not be outgoing at all. Yet Anna has fully developed her personality and is quite a bundle of joy and happiness... did she have a playmate while her sister was a recluse?

So, suddenly in the castle there are a bunch of servants... where the heck were they while the two princesses hid in the castle?

And the two sisters finally meet at the coronation where lots of people join... who sent the message to the other kingdoms if Arendelle is basically cut off from the rest of the world seemingly...?

Why is Anna not completely utterly terrified of the whole amount of people that she sees if she had zero chance to learn how to socialize? And why the heck does she meet with that prince and not be terrified of falling in love and stuff? I mean, she acts like she knows what love is and had lots of experience but she had LOCKED HERSELF INSIDE A CASTLE FOR LIKE 10 YEARS for crying out loud.

Suddenly she's recklessly in love.

Suddenly disney gives Elsa a cue to show her powers.

Elsa runs away. And even though Elsa had cut Anna out of her life, Anna is not angry at her sister at all because she cares about her so much she decides to leave the castle in charge of this man she just met and go after her sister during a blizzard.

Hans takes charge. Why is there only one prince there? I thought other kingdoms were also invited? No? Did they all go home before the party ended?

Disney throws in the regular normal guy that happens to team up with Anna to talk to her sister in ending the accidental freeze she set on the kingdom when she left.

(Side note: How do they know their shared liking of chocolate when they haven't had a conversation with each other in years? Anna should be furious with Elsa. So furious she wouldn't go after her in a blizzard.)

Anna and her new "friend" Kristoff meet Olaf who Elsa made during her song and never once glanced back to see what she made. I'm guessing it was happy memories of her and her sister playing together that brought life into Olaf.

Olaf is probably the most real character of all. Oh, and the reindeer. None of the other characters have a straight plot line.

Why is Kristoff an orphan? No one ever wondered in the beginning at that ice cutting scene? And WHY does Arendelle export ice? Where do they send it to? Who are these people that need ice so badly?

And another thing, Elsa can't be known as the snow queen when she'd only been one for less than four days supposedly and was in hiding the whole time.

Anna chases after Elsa the moment Elsa flees from the castle. Elsa leaves, Anna chases, supposedly while Elsa builds the ice castle. Then when Anna meets Kristoff, it still seems to be the same day because she makes Kristoff leave there and then and not wait until morning.

While Elsa sings "the light of day!" we see dawn coming around from somewhere. So a day goes by. It must've taken Anna all night to get to where she meets Kristoff then. She should've taken food or water or a blanket if she was smart.

But because she wasn't smart to prepare herself she gets to meet Kristoff, thank you plot line.

Okay, timeline, I'm getting confused.

Elsa becomes queen.

Anna "falls in love".

Anna frightens? angers? Elsa and takes her glove.

Elsa wants it back but doesn't want to hurt Anna (THE FEAR)

Fear makes Elsa use her powers. "Sorcery!" says the strange duke with the flappy wig.

Elsa flees. Anna chases.

Elsa leaves. Immediately Anna leaves Arendelle in Hans hands (hans hands haha) and goes after Elsa on a horse and brings nothing with her. Not even cash, food, water, or a blanket. And obviously since she has been hiding around inside a castle, she doesn't know that in the winter, you need a coat, a scarf, and boots, a hat, gloves, and blankets to keep you warm.

Elsa starts her song as she walks up a mountain. This mountain seems pretty far from Arendelle... how long did it take her to get there? Hmm... maybe all night.
At the same time Anna chases after Elsa on a horse through a forest which supposedly takes all night as well.

Elsa makes the ice castle. "light of day!" miraculously there is the light of day. Dawn. First morning she is officially "the queen :/ ".

(Seriously Elsa, who are you talking to???)

Supposedly Anna is still in the forest. She is STILL in the forest.

Sometime that same day, Anna's horse runs away on her and she falls into a creek and finds a cabin. It is dark now. Probably evening. Here she meets Kristoff. How does she pay the merchant if she seemingly has no money? Oh right, rich people always have jewels they can trade with instead.

Kristoff leaves with Anna and does not seem at all surprised she is the princess of Arendelle. He treats her rather rudely, too. Sven is kinda like a dog.

Kristoff and Anna meet Olaf who, ironically, likes warm things. Olaf gets a carrot nose. The funny scene is when Olaf says "Oh, look at that. I've been impaled! Hahaha." It should be frightening but well, he's made of snow!

Clumsily Anna tries rock climbing which supposedly is put there so that Kristoff can hold Anna and the plot line can hint at an eventual romantic relationship.

The STAIRS that the two of them didn't notice even though it was right there. Right there. Yet they decide to look toward the right to the face of a large rock instead. Why oh why oh why? Ohhh, right. Romatic relationship plot.

Sven's hoofs make it impossible for him to climb and he is left behind. By this time it's like morning. I think the sun was out and the ice was sparkling.

(WHAT WAS ELSA DOING IN HER FORTRESS THE WHOLE TIME???? Singing more songs? Meeting Jack Frost and falling in love? Creating objects with her powers? Exploring her limits? Trying to find a way to keep people away from her even though she has a country to run? You know, that sounds a bit selfish...)

(You know, I wouldn't be surprised if this pic was true.)

Anna meets Elsa. Anna is not angry at her sister and is not afraid. Where the heck does that trust come from if Elsa was the one who shut Anna out of her life? Anna should be mad. Any normal person would.

Out of FEAR of hurting Anna, Elsa hurts Anna. Good going trolls.

Elsa creates a scary snowman guard that she should have created long ago. Elsa's snowman guard almost hurts Anna who Elsa does not want to hurt.

Elsa and Kristoff have not met yet??? Not really. They do see each other but Elsa probably doesn't know his name. Anna leaves with Kristoff and Olaf dragging her with them. Her heart is freezing.

Trolls. Trolls sing a song and try to wed Kristoff and Anna while Anna slowly dies. Good going trolls. And the song is ridiculously long. I was so worried Anna was going to die right there. It is seemingly nighttime at this point because the trolls' lights are shining like it is night.

True love will thaw a frozen heart.

OH! Hans. Of course! Kristoff returns Anna to Arendelle. Hans is evil. THEN WHY did we have to see that smile of Hans when Hans falls into the water after he meets Anna? Surely that was a warm smile! The twisted plot line was a FAIL!

So up until here, two days have gone by. And we know it was night by the time Kristoff goes to see the trolls with Anna. It is day again by the time they return to Arendelle and still day when Anna is betrayed by Hans.

Did anybody understand why he tried to get her to marry him? I had no idea what evilness was supposed to be going on there. It just seemed kind of reckless. And why was Hans trying to kill Elsa? Why didn't THEY fall in love? Why did Hans even bother to go after Anna if he was going to kill her eventually? Hans is weird. Maybe he had some kind of mental illness that made him do things without any reason whatsoever.

Dying Anna realizes Kristoff is her true love. Or so she thinks. It is still the same day as captured Elsa escapes and Anna tries to go see Kristoff on a frozen ocean. A FROZEN OCEAN! I know it's frozen but, are you kidding me? What were they thinking???

The movie does the loved-one-disappeared-in-the-fog-or-blizzard-or-whatever-and-sick-or-dying-so-can't-get-there-fast-enough scene. Elsa hears Anna died. Hans doesn't know Anna is alive. Hans doesn't know Olaf saved Anna. Immediately the raging storm stops as Elsa flops down to the ice lake floor and grieves. Guilt washes over her. She didn't want to hurt Anna but FEAR made her hurt her sister that she has been trying to protect for years. Good going trolls.

Anna is slowly freezing up. Supposedly Kristoff sees Anna as she rushes in front of her sister to protect her from Hans, miraculously she freezes up into an ice statue and Hans' sword shatters. THAT is REALLY hard ice. Or perhaps the sword freezes... depends on how fast Anna freezes I guess. And whether whatever Anna touches turns to ice or not.

Elsa cries over her sister. True love thaws the heart. SISTER LOVE!!! Glad of this twist because I would've disliked the cheesy-ness of the whole plot if Kristoff kissed Anna's frozen lips and she melted away.

All this time Hans is supposedly watching dumbfounded and totally defeated. Suddenly the ice melts and they are on a boat which appears out of nowhere because obviously they weren't on a boat, er, ship.

Hans gets punched by Anna. The duke with the flappy wig never wants to do business with Arendelle again. Everyone goes home. Olaf gets to stay.

Supposedly if there was a sequel we will see Anna getting ready to marry Kristoff and then breaking up with him and then falling in love again and Elsa being more queenish.

One thing I just realized... Anna has that white strand in her hair. Elsa's hair is white. Could Elsa be frozen inside? That would explain why they are sisters yet Elsa has white hair. It is because she is just so frozen inside. The "freeze" is in her bloodstream! Her blood vessels might be ice!

Well, if there's anything I missed I'll probably end up writing another FROZEN article.

Anyway, I hope you found this interesting.

Later alligators! :D

Oh, one more thing, why doesn't Anna have any powers? Will we find that out if there is a sequel? I feel like she should have the ability to grow things. She seems like a foresty country girl. But if the sequel wants conflict with powers, Anna can have the ability to... burn things?

I'll leave that thought hanging.
