We Are So Insignificant

I'm hoping I'm not the only one who, as a child, was slightly interested in the idea of black holes and the big bang and how everything got started and how it might all end some day.

There are lots of theories about our universe.

The Big Bang Theory. That, after a big bang, everything started to happen and wala, here we are.

There is also one about The Big Crush where instead of expanding and expanding, the universe is actually going to get denser and smaller and soon collapse on itself.  Maybe become a black hole or something. But this theory can be proved wrong because apparently, recently some scientist discovered that the spaces between galaxies are actually much wider apart than they were when the universe was in its infancy.

That's the expanding theory, kinda. Guys, do your own research! I dare you :)

At this point the universe sounds like a big balloon or bubble. But won't that mean it might go POP! some day?

Anyway, there are also theories and science that says the Andromeda (spelling?) Galaxy is slowly slowly coming toward us and will, in about 3 billion or so years, collide with the Milky way Galaxy and cause explosions and chaos. There is a good chance Earth will die.  There is apparently a lucky chance it will get thrown out into space to, I don't know where. (Info from YouTube BBC Death Star).

It got me thinking...

You know, the universe doesn't really care if we (humans) are alive or not. To think about that, is hard, maybe, I don't know. But since the universe doesn't care about us, it also doesn't care if we get destroyed in the process of the life cycle of the universe.

I said life cycle cuz maybe, there were universes and civilizations before us who got destroyed by the universe. Those civilizations may have been human like us, or they may have never, never, never evolved into the human beings we are today.

Hey, maybe the universe is getting upgraded.

See, here's my idea.

There is a universe with a civilization that hasn't figured out how to go as far as the middle ages. The universe makes some apocalyptic thing happen and destroys all life. But then it creates a new one and this time this new one discovered weapons and gun powder and all that "great" stuff. But it never went as far as that. It never achieved the goal of complete progression (or whatever).

So they get destroyed.

Then the universe tries again. It creates (us). We go through each stage of civilization and finally come to technology and even begin to explore our creator (Universe). Whether the universe is satisfied with this race, I have no idea but maybe we're on the right track and that's why we're not dead yet.

Unless
of course
we end up destroying ourselves.

Anyway, I'm not saying blah about religion or about science. It's just my opinion. I know some of you might say

"Well, it sounds like you think the universe has some sort of conscience.  Wouldn't that be god?"

Well, maybe it does have a conscience. Not a moral one or a god one but maybe there is something there that, since we think it is impossible, we have never really noticed it.

The universe is so very interesting.

Question for you guys: What is your universe theory? And do you think there is an "edge" in the universe? I'm not suggesting it's flat.  But hey, we don't know it's round either, right?
