Shaun Tan: The Great Inspirational Figure

I don't know if many of you know of him but if you don't, http://www.shauntan.net/

Anyway, I love all his works... well, the one's I've read so far and did something of my own.

How to Make Dust Beasts

Things You Will Need: Dust, a chipped or unused bowl, plastic wrap, a sunny spot, a marker, and a smile

1. Harvest a small handful of dust from under your bed or from quiet corners in your room.

2. Put the dust into the bowl and cover with plastic wrap really tight.  Don't leave any wrinkles.

3. Draw a smiley face on the wrap and put the bowl in your room where the sun hits nicely.  (The smiley face is so that your Dust Beast wouldn't be frightened when he is born.)

4. Talk to it everyday.  Only good news is preferrable for a postive relationship.

5. After a week and a half and two hours, you will find two little eyes and mouth on your dust.  The dust should look a bit like fur by now.

6. Take off the plastic wrap without turning the bowl upside down.  Smiling is important.  Good first impressions are the best.

7. Once the Dust Beast smiles back, you can assume that you have gained it's loyalty and eternal friendship.

Note: Dust Beasts don't need to eat but they do like the taste of bread crumbs once in a while.
